Modern social life

Life became busy. Friendship became scheduled.

Friends move away, careers become demanding and people enter different stages of life. When friends have children, calendars naturally change and many new connections grow through family life. Couples without children can find that the spontaneous social rhythm they once shared no longer exists. Pairfolk creates a simpler way to meet through things people genuinely want to do.

Why Pairfolk exists

We had friends. What we were missing was a circle that belonged to both of us.

We live internationally, travel often and spend a lot of time building our work. Our friends are spread across cities and countries. Some friendships naturally belong more to one partner, which can leave the other feeling like a guest rather than an equal part of the group.

We do not have children (DINKs, if you prefer the fancy acronym), and we experienced this shift ourselves. Friends with families were still our friends, but spontaneous plans became rarer and many of their new connections grew through nurseries, schools and their children. Nobody was doing anything wrong. Our lives simply followed different rhythms.

We wanted a simple way for couples across different stages of life to meet through good food, walks, culture and city life. Pairfolk does not replace old friends. It helps new friendships feel shared from day one.

With or without children, couples need friendships and plans that belong to both of them.

Straight answers

Before you join

This is not about replacing friends. It is about creating a shared social circle that works for both partners.

Is Pairfolk a dating or lifestyle community?

No. Pairfolk is a social club built around friendship, shared activities and lasting social connections. Dating, swinging and sexual solicitation are not part of the community.

Why did you create Pairfolk?

We already had friends, but many lived in other cities or were naturally closer to one partner. We wanted a shared social circle in which both people arrived on equal terms and could build friendships together.

Is Pairfolk only for people who have no friends?

No. Pairfolk does not replace existing friendships. It adds a shared social circle that belongs equally to both people.

Who is Pairfolk for?

Pairfolk is for married and unmarried couples who want to meet new people, make more spontaneous plans and build a shared social circle. That includes DINK couples, meaning dual-income couples without children, other childfree couples, parents who want occasional adult plans together and empty nesters. Family status matters less than whether the timing, interests and format fit your life.

Do we have to be childfree?

No. Pairfolk grew partly from our own experience as a couple without children, but it is not a childfree club. Gatherings are designed as adult social experiences without children. Parents, childfree couples and empty nesters can all take part.

Can best friends, siblings or travel partners join?

Pairfolk is built around people who arrive as an established pair. The first pilot focuses on couples so the concept can be tested clearly. Other pair types may be introduced later.

Why do both people have to confirm?

Because the community should belong to both of you. Confirmation prevents one-sided applications and ensures that both people understand the purpose and community rules.

What happens after we apply?

We use applications to understand local demand, shared interests and availability. When enough compatible pairs are interested in the same type of plan, we invite a small group. You always see the format, location and any cost before deciding.

How do you decide who is invited?

Invitations are based on city, interest overlap, availability and practical group size. There are no public profiles or swiping.

How spontaneous will the gatherings be?

Some gatherings will be planned in advance; others may be announced with shorter notice. The goal is to make social plans easier without turning every dinner into a six-week project.

Is Pairfolk active in every city already?

No. Belgrade is the founding city. Zurich and Berlin are collecting local interest. A city opens only when enough genuine demand exists.

Does it cost anything?

Applying or joining a city waitlist is free. Any future gathering cost will be shown clearly before you decide whether to join.

How is our privacy handled?

There are no public member profiles. Pairfolk does not share application, waitlist or contact data with other members. At in-person events, attendees may choose to exchange contact details with each other themselves.
